Search Engine
Hope is not a strategy. We help small businesses with developing an intentional, data-driven approach for getting noticed online so that they can attract more customers.
The Multi-Faceted Strategy
A Transparent Methodology for Improving Search Visibility
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a highly technical topic, and many small business owners feel taken advantage of by traditional SEO agencies that offer vague promises and require them to commit upfront to expensive, long-term contracts.
Our value proposition is that we offer you the opportunity to partner with an SEO expert who will explain as much (or as little) as you would like to know about SEO, plus project-based pricing for SEO audits and initial SEO strategies, as well as ongoing monthly SEO advisory services with built-in off-ramps.
Comprehensive SEO Audit & Competitive Analysis
Our very first step with new clients is a free initial consultation to discuss your objectives and ensure a clear mutual fit. This allows both sides to confirm that we can provide the specific value and SEO services your business needs before committing to a paid project.
We then move on to completing a comprehensive SEO audit, which includes a competitive analysis component. A high-quality SEO audit is multi-faceted and time-intensive, because we analyze the underlying HTML code and overall performance of your website (i.e., on-site SEO), while also comparing your current online search visibility and website performance against your top competitors (i.e., off-site SEO).
Developing the Initial SEO Marketing Strategy
After the initial SEO audit and competitive analysis have been completed, we now have useful data on how your website is performing, and how this compares with your key competitors. The next step is to develop an initial plan for improving your online visibility over the next three to six months.
For example, many of the small businesses that we talk with tend to focus on a specific local target market (e.g., Edmonton and surrounding area), which means that local SEO will need to be an important part of their SEO plan (i.e., online searches for Edmonton landscaping companies, Edmonton HVAC companies, etc.). And local SEO is about much more than just setting up a Google Business Profile, because we also need to demonstrate to search engines that your business is a trustworthy local brand.
A good way of thinking about this portion of our SEO consulting services is that we work together with our clients to create a prioritized roadmap for both initial and ongoing tasks. This typically includes immediate high-impact changes to your existing website (i.e., low-hanging fruit), establishing a highly intentional approach for adding new content to your site over the coming months, and setting up tools to gather important data about your website’s performance.
Flexible Monthly SEO Advisory Services
Improving online search visibility for your business isn’t a quick “one and done” project, but rather an ongoing journey. At a bare minimum, it’s essential to regularly review website performance data from multiple sources, so that we can gauge the effectiveness of your new SEO strategy as time progresses.
Someone also needs to be responsible for gradually and consistently adding SEO-optimized content to your website over time. One client might choose to write content themselves with our guidance, and the next client may choose to engage us to assist them with writing content as a part of our recurring monthly SEO services. We actually strongly recommend the former approach as much as possible for creating high-quality content, because small business owners are the subject matter experts for their specific business.
We also recognize that many small businesses aren’t comfortable with committing upfront to long-term contracts for ongoing SEO services, such as a nine to twelve month minimum. This is why we’re willing to work with you to craft a flexible arrangement that provides your business with clear off-ramps, as well as the level of guidance and support that makes sense for your specific business needs.
The Elevate Your Tech Advantage
One of the key advantages of choosing to partner with Elevate Your Tech (EYT) is that you work directly with me, instead of an account manager (i.e., salesperson) that most likely knows very little about SEO, with some form of unknown SEO resources (possibly outsourced) behind the scenes. I’m a multi-disciplinary professional with twenty years of experience spanning business, finance, and information technology, and this specifically includes five years of previous SEO experience that was gained while I was operating an online media company that I previously co-founded.
I’m also committed to being open and honest with clients about what they can and cannot realistically expect from working with an SEO consultant, and I’m happy to explain as much (or as little) about SEO as a client prefers, rather than making vague promises and peppering clients with technical “mumbo jumbo” until their eyes glaze over.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do your SEO services include content writing?
Our SEO services do not include content writing by default, in order to keep our minimum fees accessible for small businesses. Clients can choose to write their own content, outsource content writing to a third party, or engage us directly to assist them with this task.
How long will it take for me to see results?
The time required to see positive results from SEO depends on several factors, including the age of the domain name, the current search performance of an existing website (if applicable), and your competition. That said, it typically takes at least three to six months to begin seeing measurable progress.
Will I be locked into a long-term contract?
Nope! We do not require mandatory long-term contracts with our SEO clients (e.g., six, nine, or even twelve months). Our SEO engagements typically consist of initial services, followed by flexible implementation and advisory support, which can be adjusted or paused as needed.
